Anita turned to the young housesitter with a serious yet gentle expression. "Listen," she said softly, "I need you to do something for me. When anyone comes by or calls, I want you to dress like me, act like me—mirror my mannerisms, my style. No one should know I’m gone."
The housesitter Vincent nodded, a little surprised but understanding the importance of the request. Anita explained her plans to be away for a few days, but she didn’t want her absence to be noticed. She trusted the young man to step into her shoes, to keep her presence alive in her absence.
As Anita prepared to leave, she gave the housesitter a few last instructions, then handed over her favorite white pumps and a pair of her sunglasses. "Just blend in. Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be back soon."
With a final smile and a wave, Anita stepped out, confident that her home—and her identity—were in safe hands. Vincent took a deep breath, adjusted her posture, and prepared to step into the role, ensuring that everything remained just as it was—except, now, with him in control.
